Isolating or energizing Electric Power to the Home

Purpose:

To ensure a safe period of work on the Electrical System for Maintenance

 

Procedure:

To totally isolate the entire system from both power sources, (Central Maine Power and the Standby Generator)

1.    Turn OFF the Standby Generator with its Main Shutoff Switch.

2.    Turn OFF the 100 Amp breaker on the generator

3.    Turn OFF the 200 Ampere Breaker in the Exterior Electric Isolation Panel.

To reapply Electrical Power

1.    Ensure all Electric circuits are set to accept power in their ON position or isolated in their OFF position as needed.

2.    Ensure each person working on the Electrical System is informed that the power is being restored to the system.

4.    Verify that all power circuits are set on their assigned breaker to ON or OFF as required at their assigned Electric Panel or Sub-Panel.

5.    Turn ON the 200 Ampere Breaker in the Exterior Electric Isolation Panel.

6.    Turn ON the 100 Amp breaker on the generator.

7.    Turn ON the Standby Generator with its Main Shutoff Switch.

8.    Confirm that the electric load is distributed as needed.
